Reason Party announces Federal Candidates
Today we are proud to announce our team to contest the Federal Election on May 18. We have decided to run a team of three dynamic women in three important lower house seats: Judy Ryan for Melbourne, Sarah Russell for Cooper and Rachel Payne for Menzies.
Judy is a strong, fierce, local community advocate. The seat of Melbourne has been taken for granted by the Greens’ Adam Bandt and we think it’s time it changed hands.
Sarah Russell is a long time local campaigner having lived in Northcote for over 30 years. She is a passionate leader in the aged care community and will bring an alternative progressive voice to Cooper.
Rachel Payne will be running in Menzies where we hope to help turf out the right-wing, liberal dinosaur that is Kevin Andrews. Rachel is the General Manager of adult industry lobby group Eros and a passionate advocate for the LGBTIQ community. Rachel will be a champion for free speech and equality for the people of Menzies.
We are not running a senate ticket at this election. For a small party like us, it simply makes no sense given the changes in recent years to senate voting rules. We think we can make a bigger impact in these three lower house seats.
Go Judy, Sarah and Rachel!
